Linarite
ID:
CC15824
An old time small miniature of Linarite from either the supergene or 1st Oxidation Zone of the Tsumeb orebody. Linarite was only ever found in these two near-surface zones and it is even possible it originates from the legendary outcrop, The Green Hill. Among several labels which accompany the specimen, one is very old and written in copperplate script. The country is written as ‘D.S.W.A.’ for Deutsch-Südwestafrika, dating this to between 1884 and 1918. A triangular shaped specimen composed almost entirely of intergrown inky, azure blue Linarite crystals on all surfaces and shot through with thin veins of gossan and copper secondaries. A rich miniature Linarite from Tsumeb mine in the Oshikoto Region of Namibia.
