Malachite with Chrysocolla
ID:
CC16000
Specimens of Tsumeb Chrysocolla are very rare as it was only found in the outcrop and first oxidation zone. This thumbnail is a good example of the species and displays well against a nodular mound of silky and lustrous deep emerald-green, partly fibrous, Malachite. The Chrysocolla is a bright powder-blue and forms a crust over one side of the Malachite substrate. In parts, the Chrysocolla is seen to form fibrous strands in parallel alignment; a result of either the underlying Malachite morphology or possibly a pseudomorph of Chrysocolla after Malachite or Malachite which has been altered to Azurite.
