Light apple green Adamite forms a gently curving botryoidal surface surrounded by undulating druses of snow-white Aragonite covering a light pink dolomitic matrix.  This lovely miniature is from the historic mining region around Lavrion in the Attik√≠ Prefecture of Greece.  This mining district dates to Classical Greek times and is famed for its diverse wealth of specimen grade minerals.  The Adamite covers a patch of approximately 3.5 cm long by between 0.5 to 1.5 cm broad.  The Aragonite appears like a solid white coating but examined with a loupe is revealed to be composed of glassy acicular needles which clearly show off the structure of crystalline Aragonite.  A delightful miniature from the Lavrion mining district in southern Greece.
