A simple yet unusual and aesthetic small miniature of Azurite on Calcite from the Lavrion Mining District in the Attica Peninsula of Greece. A double terminated blade of lustrous, inky-blue Azurite measuring 2.6 x 1.4 x 0.4 cm protrudes diagonally from one end of a small plate of bubbly, botryoidal Calcite, tinged pale sky-blue by finely-disseminated copper secondaries. Micro-sprays of blueish-green Malachite are sparsely scattered over the limonitic-coated reverse side of the Calcite. A superb Azurite crystal from the Lavrion mining district, mounted on a bevelled, square acrylic base.
