Colloquially referred to as a “Pig’s Egg” by miners, Kaolinite pseudomorphs after Orthoclase feldspar were found within the China Clay deposits in a number of quarries in the St. Austell district of Cornwall.  From the Melbur China Clay Pit, at St. Stephen-in-Brannel, Cornwall, this is a first class example, being made from almost pure Kaolinite, it is a uniform creamy-white with well defined sharp edges and faces.  The pseudomorph is that of a former Orthoclase Carlsbad twin.  A classic from the china clay suite of minerals in the St. Austell district.
