The famous Torr Works quarry (usually referred to as Merehead quarry) produced a suite of wonderful minerals related to isolated manganese pods within the limestone. Although still an operating quarry, sadly such mineralisation is no longer encountered and the specimens recovered from previous decades have now become classics. This very fine example comprises a small manganese nodule containing a 4 x 2 x 2 cm vug lined with platy black Crednerite, silky emerald-green plates of Malachite and white Hydrocerussite. A very fine specimen from this very desirable locality.
