A rich and lustrous specimen of Vesuvianite from Jeffrey mine at Asbestos in Canada. Only recently the town’s name has been changed from Asbestos to Val-des-Sources, but specimens tend to retain the locality name applicable at the time they were collected.  Well-formed gemmy to translucent-opaque crystals of light lime green Vesuvianite measuring to 1.2 cm are associated with purple mauve crystals, mainly on the reverse side.  Jeffrey mine worked a Chrysotile asbestos deposit by both open pit and underground methods, eventually becoming one of the largest open pits in the world, reaching a depth of 350 m (1,150 ft).  A fine combination of beautifully coloured Vesuvianite crystals from Jeffrey mine in Canada.
