Bonsall Moor quarry in Derbyshire, England, is best known for the magnificent axe-head Calcite crystals collected by renowned British collectors Steve and Don Rust in the early 1980s, that’s forty years ago now!  This large miniature is a fine specimen of well crystallised Galena and will make a great companion piece should you already have an axe-head Calcite.  Individual cuboctahedral crystals measure up to over 1.5 cm wide and interlock, forming a Giant’s Causeway-style surface.  The Galena is matt lead grey with an apricot-tan dusting over many of the crystals.  The specimen comes with the previous collector’s label, dated Feb 1983.
