For collectors of British minerals this is a quite remarkable specimen and highly likely to be nothing like you have seen before.  Although labelled as Coldstones quarry, it dates to the original quarry on Greenhow Hill that is known as Greenhow quarry or, because it was on Duck Lane, Duck Street quarry.  Collected on 14th April 1974, this large cabinet fluorite specimen is primarily a single massive cubic crystal with opaque white, crazed face centres and gemmy pale lilac edges and corners.  During my numerous collecting visits to Coldstones quarry I have witnessed nothing remotely like it for quality and size, nor in any private collection.  This cube forms an interpenetrant twin with other smaller crystals and is a total stunner for Yorkshire.  Often Fluorite from Duck Street / Coldstones quarry is friable, but this is just the opposite, dispelling any such concerns.  Magnificent!  Please note this specimen is likely to carry an additional postage charge due to its weight and size.
