Cuprite

ID: CC17143
An off-matrix, porous granular mass of lustrous Cuprite micro-crystals from Cornwall, England.  Although the mine provenance is not recorded, it is likely the specimen is from the St. Day area.  Sub-mm maroon Cuprite crystals form granular clusters which in turn form a cellular, sponge-like structure. A terrific specimen composed entirely of crystalline Cuprite.
