Rhodochrosite
ID:
CC17159
Priced at just $100, this is a rare and beautiful crystalline Rhodochrosite from Levant mine close to St Just, at the far south-western tip of Cornwall. The Levant engine houses are famous for their spectacular cliff-tip location and whose mine workings extend out under the Atlantic Ocean. Levant was a copper and tin mine and amongst its 43 recognised species, well crystallised Rhodochrosite is extremely rare. This excellent 9 x 7 mm rosette of bright coral-pink translucent crystals is complete and undamaged, and contrasts nicely against the dark sooty-grey Calcite matrix. This charming specimen comes with the previous collector’s label and a green Richard Barstow stock label.
