Cloud Hill quarry at Breedon on the Hill is in north-west Leicestershire and is a large modern operating aggregate quarry.  Mineralised veins are occasionally exposed, and collectors are given planned access.  This fine miniature of octahedral Galena crystals was collected in May 2008 from the 2nd Bench on the quarry’s South Face.  The Galena crystals are all approximately 1 to 1.5 cm across, tarnished dark-grey-black and all are coated is a fine dusting of micro-sucrosic Cerussite crystals.  Towards its sides, where the specimen was attached in-situ, fresh metallic silver Galena frames the octahedral crystals.  A splendid Galena from Cloud Hill quarry.
