An old-time specimen, collected prior to 1870, of micro-crystals of Aragonite forming globular clusters over opaque milky Quartz crystals to about 2.5 cm. From the famous and picturesque Botallack mine, whose engine house sit on the cliffs near to St. Just, Cornwall, England. The Aragonite, which is lustrous and translucent, forms hemispheres to over 1 cm diameter which perch on the sides and apex of the larger Quartz crystals. It’s a great Aragonite on Quartz and so representative of this habit from Botallack in Cornwall. This lovely cabinet specimen comes with the previous English collector’s label on which it is noted this was from the late R.J. (Bob) King Collection.
