A specimen of solid metallic ores with well crystallised Chalcocite, Pyrite and Quartz from 9 Level, Geevor Mine, Pendeen, Cornwall.  The specimen has an overall coal-black sooty appearance with a totally unreflective matt finish. The Chalcocite crystals are numerous and occur in many crystal habits which range from pseudo-hexagonal to blocky elongated battleship grey crystals of up to almost 3 cm long.  The base of the specimen is rich in golden-brassy metallic sulphide crystals, the majority of which appear to be Pyrite.  A super example of various Chalcocite habits from Geevor mine.
