Great Wheal Fortune, close to the village of Breage and north-west of Helston, operated between 1855 and 1880.  This Cassiterite specimen is typical of the habit of Cassiterite at this mine, with tiny transparent to translucent, clove-brown crystals averaging 1 mm across and occasionally to 3 mm.  These have a bright glassy lustre which contrast well against the creamy-orange-tan bed of Gilbertite mica, a variety of Muscovite.
