Tearsall mine in South Darley is another of the many small mines and quarries close to Matlock in Derbyshire, England and this thumbnail is a little beauty, displaying translucent blocky fawn Cerussite crystals densely coating a small matrix of Galena. The largest Cerussite is a double terminated acicular crystal, 5 mm long, which looks quite large amongst the smaller, more equant crystals. The mine derives its name from the nearby Tearsall Farm and from the accompanying label appears to have been collected in 1983.
