Small acid-yellow to much larger burnt toffee-yellow crystals of Sturmanite richly coat a pinkish-grey matrix of micro-crystals of Quartz over a sooty black manganese ore matrix. The largest Sturmanite crystal, which is half exposed from the matrix, measures 2.0 cm wide by 1.1 cm maximum thickness. The larger hexagonal prismatic crystals have pyramidal faces and distinct pinacoid faces, while the smaller crystals are simple bipyramids. A rich miniature of Sturmanite from the famous N'Chwaning Mines at Kuruman, within the Kalahari Manganese Field of South Africa.
