From the famous Mashamba West mine in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a superb combination of glassy-green-grey composite Calcite crystals with attachments of velvet-like, fine acicular emerald-green Malachite.  The smooth and beautifully crystallised Calcite measures 5.0 x 4.5 x 2.4 cm and is formed from a number of intergrown Calcite crystals, many faces of which are visible.  The sub-mm crystallised acicular Malachite forms velvet-like druses, the largest measuring 3.5 x 2.0 x 1.5 cm (approximately). Partly covering the underside of the Calcite are patches of pale, duck-egg greenish-blue Plancheite, in encrusted, paint-like layers.  A showy Calcite with Malachite from the DRC.
