A magnificent group of orange-red Crocoite crystals to 4.4 cm lying flat against a thick plate of dark sooty-grey limonite matrix from the Dundas Mineral Field in the Zeehan district of Tasmania, Australia. The Crocoite is particularly aesthetic due to the thickness and depth of the individual crystals, typically measuring 5 x 3 mm in cross-section, which is a good size for this species. Their thickness and translucency produce an internal patination of zesty-orange metallic foil which brings a superb play of light to the specimen. Four of the main crystals have good terminations where the crystals have been protected by the underlying matrix, the colour of which provides the perfect foil to the Crocoite. A very choice Crocoite from the world famous Dundas Mineral Field in Tasmania.
