An absolutely superb specimen of the hydrous copper chloro-sulphate Connellite from the enigmatic Wheal Unity at St Day, Gwennap, Cornwall, a mine adjacent to the famous Wheal Gorland. Micro- acicular radial sprays of Persian blue Connellite richly coat a long shallow vug along the top surface of a mixed Cuprite-Quartz veinstone matrix. The Connellite forms a stunning drusy coverage punctuated by rounded blebs of pale to leaf-green Malachite. A little Chalcophyllite is attached to the specimen. A very fine example of the rare mineral Connellite and from one of the most famous of classic Cornish mines. Ex. British Museum (Natural History) specimen, London.
