Cassiterite pseudomorphs after Orthoclase

ID: CC17715
Two beautiful Cassiterite pseudomorphs after Orthoclase from the classic locality of Wheal Coates at St. Agnes on the north Cornwall coast. Although small, the pseudomorphs are perfect, with sharp and crisp faces and edges; the smaller displaying a Baveno twin and the larger a Carlsbad twin.  The accompanying dimension is for the Carlsbad; the Baveno measures 1.6 x 0.9 x 0.6 cm.  The specimens are particularly heavy for their size, indicating a high percentage replacement by Cassiterite. A splendid pair of pseudomorphs from Wheal Coates.  Ex. Sir Arthur Russell duplicate and British Museum (Natural History) label.
