Chalcophyllite

ID: CC17717
Chalcophyllite is one of the iconic copper-aluminium arsenate minerals from Wheal Gorland and is an essential member of any representative suite from the Gwennap mining district!  This rich specimen has passed though many hands in its long history, including spells in the E. Tawney Collection and The Sedgewick Museum at the University of Cambridge.  A few accompanying past labels supply further details.  Clear, bright blueish-green unaltered platy crystals of Chalcophyllite line a shallow depression, or cavity, along one edge of a veinstone gossan.  The Chalcophyllite forms characteristic hexagonal plates to 5 mm across as interlaced arrays and stacked books.  An exceptional specimen of this rare arsenate from the famous Wheal Gorland.
