Ludlamite with Quartz and Siderite

ID: CC17755
A specimen that can be summarised with just one word; Wow!  The rare phosphate Ludlamite was named in 1877 following its discovery at Wheal Jane at Baldhu, Kea, Cornwall, England, close to the city of Truro.  Ludlamite specimens from Wheal Jane are greatly prized in any collection, but this fabulous specimen would not be out of place in any display of the world’s top natural history museums.  A near rectangular bed of colourless glassy Quartz crystals with pale salmon-pink inclusions surround an estimated 50 to 60 pale limey-apple-green Ludlamite crystals, all perfectly developed and terminated.  The Ludlamite forms glassy, lozenge-shaped crystals which range from about to 2 to 18 mm long.  This specimen comes with a lot of detailed information, including its exact location in Wheal Jane on the 11/15 decline, ‘C’ Section, at a depth of 440 m.  A world-class Ludlamite from its type locality at Wheal Jane, Cornwall.
