Three fascinating pale sea-green, almost spherical Fluorite crystals sit on a milky Quartz matrix sprinkled with 1 to 3 mm Galena and Chalcopyrite crystals. From the Naica mine at Mun. de Saucillo in Chihuahua, Mexico, famous for its gigantic gypsum crystals in the ‘Cave of Swords’. The Fluorite crystals show octahedral growth but are overgrown with epitaxially aligned cubic crystals forming neatly stacked pyramids. The largest crystal in the centre of the specimen is almost spherical and averages 2 cm in diameter. A great aesthetic Fluorite with Galena and Chalcopyrite and a rare example of this form of epitaxial crystal growth.
