A block of part-crystallised, intergrown Quartz and Fluorite, both in shades of white and pale yellowish-cream from the Bere Alston mines, close to Tavistock in Devon, England. The surface of much of the Quartz is covered with very fine examples of tapering stepped growths of Quartz in concentric hexagonal tiers, the habit and variety known as Babel Quartz. It is so named for it close resemblance to the Tower of Babel. Although found at many localities worldwide, it was first recognised at the Bere Alston mines. A great specimen of this fascinating Quartz habit.
