The district of Leiping in Guiyang County, is in the Hunan Province of south-east China and its mines have become famous for its colourful and varied habits of Calcite.  This charming thumbnail, coated in tiny, gemmy, singular nail-head crystals is capped with two beautiful twinned crystals; one a heart-twin, the other a butterfly-twin.  Both twins are colourless and gemmy, tinged in many parts a fleshy-brick-red.  A terrific specimen, mounted on a blackened acrylic base.
