Amazonite is the blueish-turquoise-green variety of Microcline Feldspar and its association with smoky Quartz is an American classic. This charming and delightful specimen is from the Two Point claim in Teller County, Colorado, and is perhaps more beautiful due to its elegant simplicity. One single, flattened crystal of both Amazonite and Smoky Quartz are attached at different points to the circumference of a semi-hemispherical rosette of snowy-white Albite Feldspar, occurring as the variety Cleavelandite with intermeshed curved blades. Please note that this specimen has been repaired. As far as I can determine, it is part of the Albite rosette, opposite to the Amazonite and Quartz, which has been restored, but it is difficult to see and once mounted on its custom-made base, is not noticeable at all. The Sunnywood acrylic base is contour-milled to accommodate the lower point of the Albite rosette and has two backing arms to support the specimen vertically. An impressive combination of Amazonite with Smoky Quartz and Albite from Colorado.
