Hydroxylherderite is a calcium-beryllium phosphate and in this magnificent specimen forms an asymmetric octahedral crystal of opaque greyish-cream with an almost chalk-like texture and appearance. This primary crystal measures 7.2 x 4.7 x 3.4 cm (approx.) and is attached to a snow-white matrix of opaque to translucent Albite feldspar.  Other, much smaller Hydroxylherderite crystals are scattered over the matrix, and this also occurs as micro-globular druses.  A very fine example of Hydroxylherderite from Barra do Salinas, Coronel Murta, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
