Epidote

ID: CC18086
Delicate gemmy crystals of Epidote form an intergrown aesthetic array from the ancient copper mining area in and around Knappenwand in the Untersulzbach Valley, roughly 90 km SW of Salzburg in Austria.  The transparent, deep and intense limey-bottle-green crystals measure up to 3 cm long in the habit of long, narrow tabular crystals tending to acicular.  This ex-matrix specimen is very delicate and hence mounted on an elegant, double-tiered colourless acrylic base.
