An excellent, rare large cabinet specimen of brassy metallic yellow Chalcopyrite crystals measuring to 1.2 cm richly clustered over creamy opaque, milky white Quartz crystals.  One area displays crystals of Chalcopyrite partly altered to metallic blueish Bornite.  The Quartz forms stubby, slightly tapering prisms of up to 2.5 or even 3 cm tall, often with their well-formed terminations partly surrounded by smaller similar Quartz crystals around the periphery.  A classic specimen from the Caradon Mines (South Caradon) just north of the village of St. Cleer in the Liskeard District of Cornwall.  The Caradon mines began around 1846 and this stunning specimen dates to between this time and 1885.  Specimens of this size are very rarely seen outside of museums and it would certainly not look out of place displayed in any of the world’s major natural history museums.
