A first-class specimen of delicate pink Mendipite with an outer crust of sooty black manganese oxides from the Torr Works Quarry at Cranmore, close to Shepton Mallet in Somerset.  This quarry is better known to collectors as Merehead Quarry.  The Mendipite forms long fibrous lustrous glassy crystals in a criss-crossing divergent spray.  An aesthetic and showy specimen of this rare lead oxychloride whose type locality is close by in the Mendip Hills.
