Nasonite is one of the Holy Grails from the rare oxychloride suite occasionally found in Torr Works quarry at Cranmore in Somerset. Torr Works is more commonly known to mineral collectors as Merehead quarry. Nasonite is an extremely rare mineral and few specimens have ever been found at this locality. This large thumbnail contains a roughly 3 x 2 mm patch of deep sky-blue Nasonite adjacent to a similar sized patch of white Datolite, both in a matrix of chocolate-brown-bronze Goethite which forms small radial sprays. A Torr Works and British classic.
