Beryl var. Aquamarine with Schorl on Orthoclase

ID: CC18182
A splendid, perfectly terminated Aquamarine crystal, the blue variety of Beryl, attached to a naturally etched crystal of black Schorl on a matrix of crystallised Orthoclase.  The hexagonal Aquamarine crystal measures 3.0 x 1.5 cm, has a gemmy upper half and the flat pinacoid face is criss-crossed with slender acicular needles of black Schorl Tourmaline.  A great specimen from the Erongo Mountain pegmatites in Namibia.
