Galena ps. after Pyromorphite with Pyromorphite

ID: CC18292
A fabulous specimen of matt, lead-grey Galena forming crisp, stubby hexagonal pseudomorphs after Pyromorphite richly covering a matrix of granular Galena mixed with Pyrite and Chalcopyrite.  From Kautenbach mine by Kautenbach, Traben-Trarbach in Rhineland-Palatinate state, the Galena pseudomorphs range from about 5 mm to 1.5 cm across, with the latter 0.9 cm thick. The Galena is partly coated in fine druses of remnant mustardy olive-green Pyromorphite as micro-crystals, ribbons and granules.  A terrific and very pleasing Galena pseudomorphing Pyromorphite.
