An ugly but excellent specimen of the very rare Na-Fe-Al sulphate Nikischerite from its type locality at the Huanuni mine in Dalence Province, Bolivia.  A heavy and dense slab of Quartz containing mixed sulphides (mainly Pyrite) forms a thick matrix with a sawn and partly polished base.  Scattered over the top surface are over 20 spherical crystal clusters of olive-green Nikischerite; the crystals forming a pattern similar to a hand grenade casing.  Across the matrix surface and between the Nikischerite are brassy sub-mm Pyrite crystals and occasional greenish black blades of Vivianite.  A terrific specimen of the very rare mineral Nikischerite, first described in 2001.
