A beautiful and fascinating Azurite and Malachite from the Tsumeb mine in Namibia.  A specimen in which the Azurite crystals radiate out all around the matrix, hedgehog-like, with parts of their surfaces pseudomorphed to deep olive-green Malachite.  The Azurite crystals are extremely simple, occurring in a near-orthorhombic tabular habit, the largest measuring 2.0 x 1.2 x 0.3 cm.  In reflected light, the Azurite appears a semi-lustrous, very dark blue, almost black, but in transmitted light, are very translucent and of an exquisite deep electric-blue.  A terrific Azurite with Malachite from Tsumeb.
