A rather unusual specimen of the copper silicate mineral Dioptase, from the Tsumeb mine in Namibia, in that it is composed of thousands of micro (sub-mm) crystals forming drusy coatings over 2 to 5 mm long Dioptase crystals.  The Dioptase richly coats snowy-white rhombohedral Calcite crystals which thickly cover a core of light grey Dolomite.  Due to the extremely small crystal size, the Dioptase appears a more bluish-green, rather than its typical deep emerald-green colour.  The micro Dioptase crystals form a sucrosic coating with an almost velvety texture.  A splendid micro-crystallised Tsumeb Dioptase.
