A fine, good-sized cabinet specimen of gemmy inky blue Fluorite crystals from the Halsbrücke mining area in the Freiberg District of Saxony, Germany. Well-developed Fluorite crystals, some as elongated twins and measuring to 1.5 cm on edge are displayed sitting on a bed of 2 to 3 mm cubic Fluorite crystals of the same colour. A creamy white flowstone of micro-crystalline Calcite preferentially coats all the Fluorite crystals from one direction, giving an indication of the specimen’s “way-up” when in situ. The underside of the thin, 5 mm deep, plate-like matrix is entirely encrusted in a druse of gemmy, pale teal blue Fluorite crystals, each of 1 to 2 mm on edge. This is a superb example of blue Fluorite from Halsbrücke, Saxony.
