Fraser’s Hush mine is between the villages of Rookhope and Allenheads and exploited the Greencleugh vein.  The mine is relatively new although many smaller, older mines pepper the countryside around this area.  Begun in the early 1970’s, Frazer’s Hush operated until 1999 and became a firm favourite amongst collectors of British minerals for its superb purple Fluorites.  This large cabinet specimen is a mix of semi-transparent to gemmy cubic crystals, typically of about 1 cm on edge and of a deep mid-blackberry-purple set amongst much smaller pale lilac crystals with cloudy-white opaque centres.  The larger crystals have a characteristic Frazer’s Hush highly reflective glassy lustre and turn bright fluorescent purple in daylight.  A rare 2 mm brassy-golden Chalcopyrite crystal sits towards one side.  A stunning Fluorite with excellent daylight fluorescence.  Please note this specimen is likely to carry an additional postage charge due to its weight and size.
