This amazing cabinet specimen is a classic Quartz Gwindel from Tujetsch in the Vorderrhein Valley, Switzerland. The Gwindel itself measures 12.5 cm long while the whole specimen with its matrix is slightly longer. The Quartz is colourless and throughout much of the crystal, completely gemmy, certainly of Rock Crystal quality. The multiple crystals are all double terminated and of a clarity enabling fine printed text to be read through its entire thickness. As is the nature of Gwindel Quartz, a slight rotational twist is clearly seen looking along the axis of the stacked array of double terminated crystals. The Gwindel merges into a matrix of milky Quartz which forms a flat base on which the specimen displays to perfection.
