ID: CC18750
A classic old time specimen of brassy golden Chalcopyrite crystals from the Bad Ems Mining District of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.  On a mixed polycrystalline matrix of anhedral Chalcopyrite and Quartz, the bright metallic Chalcopyrite crystals measure to 8 mm on edge and any gaps between these are filled with druses of small, well developed Quartz crystals.
Ex. the Mineral Collection of Archduke Stephan Franz Viktor of Hungary (1817 to 1867), with a historic Archduke (Erzherzog) Stephan label incorporating his coat of arms.  This label measures 7.2 x 4.8 cm and has been trimmed, but with no loss to the printed and hand-written text.  It is understood these labels were trimmed by curators at the Museum of Natural History of the Humboldt University in Berlin, to fit within their specimen boxes, after being bequeathed by Carl Rumpff’s widow in late 1889.  A discoloured Carl Rumpff label, dated 1889, is attached to the specimen.
