A cluster of well developed translucent creamy Anglesite crystals sit in a roughly 4 x 4 cm x 2 cm deep vug in the top of a heavy small cabinet specimen of polycrystalline silver-grey Galena.  From the historic mining district of Holzappel in the Lahn Valley, Germany, the Anglesite crystals are developed up to 1.5 cm long and are nearly all well terminated and damage-free, having been somewhat protected in the vug.  An excellent old-time specimen of Anglesite and Galena from Holzappel.
Ex. the Mineral Collection of Archduke Stephan Franz Viktor of Hungary (1817 to 1867), but with no label or catalogue label on specimen.  However, there is a small hand written label with species, locality and “Coll. Rumpff 1889” and a label glued to the specimen bearing the same information.  The specimen comes with one of the unique green card boxes which the Archduke had specifically made to house the specimens.
