Light chocolate-brown crystals of Pyromorphite richly coat the top surface of a flattish plate of micro-polycrystalline Galena with subtle foliation.  From the district around the Inn Valley, Tyrol, Austria, the Pyromorphite crystals are developed to about 7 mm in length and form curved, barrel shaped crystals with heavily striated prism faces.  The crystals lie flat against the grey-sooty Galena.
Ex. the Mineral Collection of Archduke Stephan Franz Viktor of Hungary (1817 to 1867), with a complete historic Archduke (Erzherzog) Stephan label incorporating his coat of arms.  This label measures 8.5 x 4.7 cm; is complete and is numbered 99/15.  A small label bearing this same number is glued beneath the specimen plus a Carl Rumpff label, dated 1889.
