A superb old-time specimen composed of intergrown tetrahexahedral crystals of Native Copper from the copper mines of Keweenaw County in Upper Michigan, USA.  The crystals have a wonderful coppery caramel-chocolate patina and range in diameter from just a few mm to 2.2 cm.  Most of the crystals are very well defined with sharp edges to each crystal face, the most perfect being those in the mid-size range.  Of historical interest are chisel marks through the base of one crystal where it has been detached from in-situ by a miner long ago.  Chiselling was the only means of removing Native Copper as it is too malleable to be detached by explosives.  An excellent and beautifully crystallised Keweenaw Copper.
