Pseudomalachite is a relatively rare copper phosphate and the Virneberg mine (also known as St. Josephsberg mine) at Rheinbreitbach in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany from where this specimen is from, is its type locality.  This is an old-time specimen and consists of part-spherical mounds, to over 2.5 cm in diameter, of glassy and lustrous Pseudomalachite crystals in an iron-stained caramel and cream cellular Quartz matrix.  Although the Pseudomalachite is quite different from what typifies that from many other localities, it is typical for this, the type locality.  An excellent Pseudomalachite dating back many years since it was first collected.
