A gorgeous thumbnail of glassy, translucent dark bottle-green Malachite with a bright lustre from Wissen in the Rhineland-Palatinate state of Germany. An off-matrix specimen, the single composite crystal is built from multiple glassy acicular Malachite crystals in parallel alignment. The top is a complexly terminated jumble of the individual crystals and of generally a lighter green. Against strong light, the translucency of the outer Malachite crystals display neon-green edges.
