Andradite Garnet with Quartz and Hedenbergite

ID: CC19047
A classic combination of Andradite Garnet with Quartz and Hedenbergite from Serifos Island, one of the Aegean Islands east of the Greek mainland.  This lovely specimen is probably from the skarns at Mega Horio, but its exact location has not been recoded and other such deposits do occur on Serifos.  A milky Quartz matrix covered with Quartz crystals of up to 1.8 cm is richly coated with equant Andradite Garnet crystals of up to roughly 6 mm.  Each crystal forms with lozenge-shaped multiple-faces, opaque cinnamon face centres and translucent clove-brown edges.  A small 1.5 x 1.0 x 0.8 cm block of crystallised sage-green Hedenbergite hides in one side of the specimen.  A super Andradite, Quartz and Hedenbergite from the Aegean island of Serifos.
