Rhodochrosite with Malachite

ID: CC19093
A small but arresting miniature of dusty, cherry-red Rhodochrosite forming a gently undulating druse of ovoid crystals mostly covering a layer of turquoise-green Malachite.  This lovely specimen is from Wolf mine at Herdorf in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.  The underlying matrix is a thin bed of jet-black Goethite, both massive and as tiny spherical structures of radiating crystals.  Along the sides of the specimen the internal structure and colour of the Rhodochrosite is revealed as radiating sprays of intense tangerine-orange.  Superb.  The specimen is accompanied with an old German handwritten and printed label.
