This first-rate Vivianite crystal from the Trepča complex in Kosovo looks perfect and stunning against the thin, quite delicate plate of Limonite and Siderite on which it sits at one end.  The crystal is a thick, acute rhombohedron measuring 2.5 x 2.0 x 0.9 cm; the two longer dimensions measured on the face edges.  Measured along its major diagonal it is exactly 4 cm.  The Vivianite appears a highly lustrous black at a normal viewing distance, but closer to, bluish-green flashes can be seen in the crystal faces.  Held against sunlight, certain areas within the crystal transmit an aquamarine-bluish-green.  An excellent Vivianite from Trepča.
