Quartz var. Amethyst with Dolomite and Calcite

An excellent miniature of Amethyst Quartz crystals with a good depth of colour from Banská Štiavnica (Schemnitz) in the Banská Bystrica Region of Slovakia. Translucent mauve crystals radiate out from a central core (visible in the base) to form a flat plate of perfectly terminated crystals, all of about 1 cm long and tightly clustered. The occasional micro-cubic Pyrite crystal lurks amongst the Amethyst along with more plentiful, small crystals of tan Dolomite and white Calcite.
